Responding to a petition by William Blatty (author of The Exorcist), Washpo blogger Jason Steidl has asserted that Georgetown “may be the best of example of what the church is supposed to be.”

Steidl’s piece raises interesting questions not only for Georgetown or the Roman Catholic Church, but also for the worldwide church that includes all believers in Jesus Christ. What exactly is the church supposed to be? And what can the church learn from the controversy at Georgetown?
